American musical legend Stanley "Buckwheat" Dural Jr. along with his band, Buckwheat Zydeco, is the preeminent ambassador of Louisiana zydeco music. In 2010, the band earned its first Grammy Award for its recording, Lay Your Burden Down, in the “Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album” category.
The New York Times calls their music "a down-home and high-powered celebration, meaty and muscular with a fine-tuned sense of dynamics…propulsive rhythms, incendiary performances." People magazine called their music a "propulsive, rollicking, swamp-boogie joy ride."
The Dirty Dozen Brass Band is celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the debut release, "My Feet Can‘t Fail Me Now." The album heralded the coming of a new breed for brass band in the city of New Orleans and around the world. The Dirty Dozen will perform songs from that album, plus a mix from their entire repertoire.
