Arts, culture and creativity help deepen a sense of place, inviting new people to increase a neighborhood’s vibrancy. The Non-profit Concrete Couch, City of Colorado Springs, and City Rock are teaming up to bring SCAMP, a Summer Community Art and Mural Program to downtown.
Be a part of the fun!
Show up May 21 through May 25 to help construct a mosaic bench in front of City Rock, 21 N. Nevada Ave., between 9 a.m. to noon. To RSVP or get more info: Lisbet@concretecouch.org.
Where do materials come from?
Most are reused and donated from The ReStore, 411 S Wahsatch Ave., or El Paso County’s Household Hazardous Waste Facility, 3255 Akers Dr. Did you know that anybody can shop The ReStore’s gently used building supplies to benefit Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity? And, at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility, residents can not only drop off electronics, batteries, motor oil, chemicals, and paints for free recycling, but also reuse paints and other items.
Don’t want the fun to end?
A bike tour/celebration this fall will visit the 2012 SCAMP sites throughout greater downtown Colorado Springs.
