Description
We are the largest facility in the region — at 36,000-plus square feet —where local, original art is exhibited and can be purchased. Community growth is fostered through the creation of art, classes and workshops taught by professional artists, reduced-fee life drawing sessions and monthly gallery exhibitions and open house activities. Professional growth is fostered through mentoring, group critiquing and creative leadership in a warm community atmosphere. Our students are from diverse socio-economic backgrounds and are equally diverse in age and art experience.

Two galleries that host monthly exhibitions, a year-round art school that offers education in diverse media from oil painting through airbrush and 70-plus professional and emerging artists that have working studios at Cottonwood, make us a unique destination located near the heart of downtown Colorado Springs. In the first semester of 2011, Cottonwood awarded 73 partial scholarships to students from local high schools to pursue their art passion. We are staffed by three full time staff and a few volunteers and currently receive no agency funding or subsidization.
