Doherty High School

Doherty High School opened its doors in the fall of 1975. The school is named for Thomas Bernard Doherty, who served as superintendent of School District 11 from 1964 – 1977.
Doherty is currently at building capacity with over 2,000 students enrolled, making it the most populous school in the district. Parents have camped in front of the doors for up to 72 hours hoping to receive a permit allowing their children to attend Doherty.
