Description
Grab your bike and hit the trail with Palmer Land Conservancy for our fourth annual Bike the Bessemer event – a fun-filled and educational ride showcasing Pueblo County’s premier agricultural lands and important water resources. This year's ride will also conclude with a special screening of MIRASOL, Looking at the Sun, a new documentary film presented and produced by Palmer Land Conservancy.
Whether you joined us last year or this is your first time saddling up with Palmer, there will be something for everyone at this year's Bike the Bessemer. Your morning will include an easy and enjoyable ~12-mile bike ride with stops at local farms and farm-stands where you will receive a behind-the-scenes glimpse into their operations. Along the way, we will ride near the historic Bessemer Irrigation Ditch and learn about the importance of this critical water resource to maintaining Pueblo’s agricultural heritage.
After your ride, enjoy a refreshing beverage and a delicious farm-to-table lunch (included with your registration) featuring ingredients sourced directly from the farmers in Pueblo County, catered by Mary Oreskovich and Richard Warner of Diavolo Pueblo Hot Chicken. Your day will conclude with a special screening of MIRASOL: Looking at the Sun, a new film directed by acclaimed director Ben Knight and presented by the Palmer Land Conservancy that tells the story of the farmers and farmlands visited along your ride.
