About the Junior League of Colorado Springs
- The Junior League of Colorado Springs (JLCS) has been part of the Colorado Springs community for nearly 100 years. We're a women's volunteer organization focused on developing the potential of women and improving our community through effective leadership.
We are a certified 501(c)(3) [EIN: 84-6027295]

About the Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI)
- LBDI is an international event among all Junior Leagues, however ours is run a bit differently! For the week prior to the gala we run a hard social media campaign, spreading awareness through our own social platforms and through conversation. League members wear the same black dress (or outfit) for 5 consecutive days, bringing awareness to the limited options women in poverty have for choice in fashion - we wear a pin that reads "ask me about my dress" to open the conversation.

About the Gala
- Our LBDI culminates in a Gala, where we get a little glam to do a whole lot of good! Our League's area of focus is youth aging out of the foster care system - that 18-24 'in between' age where there isn't much support or many services. We host the LBDI Gala annually to increase awareness of this underrepresented demographic and to raise support for our Fostering Change Fund - where this niche group of youths can seek scholarship dollars to support their career and educational goals (we’ve received asks as simple as a laptop to finish a GED or funding for a car repair to go on a job interview). We aim to keep these local youth out of the pitfalls of homelessness, human trafficking, and drug abuse. Donations from this Gala directly support our cause as the dollars raised provided impact the Colorado Springs youth.
