Event Details:

The Discovery Center invites Homeschooling families to join us the first Wednesday of each month as we bring your homeschooling students’ Science Standards to life throughout the Discovery Center. Each month has a unique theme.

One of the biggest challenges for Homeschooling families is how to effectively meet and teach Science Standards when the last time many adults performed a science experiment was when they were back in high school.

This month we will explore topics including weather, climate, seasons, geology, and how each of these things relate and give our Earth its unique features and ability to host life.

Homeschool Day at the Discovery Center is a deep-dive day full of learning and hands-on activities about one science topic.

Today’s Activities and Demonstrations

  • 10:30am – Special Science on a Sphere presentation: Earth, one special world
  • 11 am – Explore Earth’s geology with an educator-led activity
  • 12pm – Earth, one special world encore SOS presentation
  • 1:30pm – learn about Earth’s weather, and how satellites help us see things here on Earth
  • Additional self-guided Earth-themed activities available throughout the day
  • BONUS: The Discovery Center is hosting the first ever Family Symposium beginning at 2pm in which our Homeschool families are invited to participate.

Family Symposium will bring together all the wonderful STEM and STEAM resources of the Pikes Peak region under one roof to share information.
