The Pueblo Police Department says Julian A. Reyes has been released from the Colo. Department of Corrections on intensive supervised parole. He will be living at 906 East 2nd Street.

Reyes was first released on parole back in August, but he was re-arrested a week later, after he violated his parole. His prior convictions include Sexual Assault, Unlawful Sexual Contact, Criminal Mischief, Child Abuse/Neglect, Robbery and Trespassing. He also has a history of mental health problems.

DENVER (AP) - A federal appeals court has ruled that mug shots of federal prisoners are private, rejecting an appeal from an Oklahoma newspaper that argued people have a right to know how inmates are being treated.

The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver ruled Tuesday that the Tulsa World is not entitled to booking photos because inmates have a right to privacy and releasing the photos would serve no public purpose.

The newspaper had requested photos of all illegal immigrants and others held on complaints ranging from stolen property and first-offense drug arrests to murders and child sex crimes.

A church in Ohio is offering an opportunity for people to receive their Ash Wednesday blessings, even if they are in a hurry. They will be able to get the blessings without ever leaving their cars.

Mt. Healthy United Methodist Church is holding a drive-thru Ash Wednesday service for people of all faiths, beginning this afternoon. The church says they are hoping to reach out to both parishioners who are busy and those who might get intimidated by walking into a church.

The church's reverend believes the drive-thru service is something Jesus would approve of.

It's been 6 years since Colorado Springs police officer Jared Jensen was shot and killed responding to a call for service near Costilla and Hancock.

Jensen was shot after atempting to arrest a parolee who was wanted for attempted murder.

After approaching the suspect, Detective Jensen was shot once in the face. Jensen fell to the ground and the suspect stood over him and shot at him again. Four minutes later citizens called to report a shooting. Responding officers located Jensen on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Memorial Hospital where he later died.

Police are asking on their Facebook page for citizens to help honor the memory of Detective Jensen's service to the department.

Police scanner: Fire crews have returned from a reported house fire in Midway where a handicapped child resided.

There was initial concern because the child was reportedly on oxygen but everyone is said to have evacuated and there's no word on any injuries or damage to the structure.

Construction will begin next week on the first Vans store in southern Colorado to be located in the Chapel Hills Mall.

The approximately 2,700-square-foot store will be located on the mall's upper level near JCPenney. The store plans to open this spring.

Vans is the original action sports footwear company and a leading lifestyle brand for today's youth market.

Vans collections include active and performance footwear, apparel and accessories.

"Vans will be a welcome addition to our retail line-up, and will complement Colorado Springs' adventure and outdoor lifestyle well," said Victoria Harley, Chapel Hills Mall general manager.

Police scanner: Area fire departments are on their way to a reported  house fire in Midway where a handicapped child was residing.

Latest information is that all persons may have been evacuated from the structure.

Colorado Springs Mayor Steve Bach will hold a town hall public meeting tonight at the Penrose Public Library's downtown location from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The purpose of the meeting, in the Carnege Room of the library, is to get public input on the downtown rennaissance.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Supreme Court appears to be sharply divided over a law that makes it a crime to lie about having been awarded top military honors.

The justices engaged in spirited debate Wednesday over the constitutionality of a 2006 law aimed at curbing false claims about military exploits.

Some justices said they worried that upholding the Stolen Valor Act could lead to laws that might make it illegal to lie about an extramarital affair or a college degree.

But others indicated that the law is narrowly drawn to try to prevent people from demeaning the system of military honors that was established by Gen. George Washington in 1782.
